Precalculus: Year in Review
- Your growth as a mathematician. This should be centered around the four habits of a mathematician, linked below and given to you as a handout. You must address at least TWO of the habits.
Another way that I grew throughout the year as a mathematician is through communicating thinking in a clear and accessible way. This was one of the more difficult things that I personally had to work on because language is not my strength. I love the concept of math, but it is hard for me to convey it in a way that makes sense to other people. So when we had to write multiple problems of the week over the course of the year I had to break down the math into small bits so I could understand it in a way that would make sense to other people.
- Your growth as an Osprey in this class. This should be centered around the Habits of Heart and Mind that we follow as a school, linked below and in your handout. You should try to address at least TWO of the habits.
- Anything else you think is pertinent to your learning and work in Precalculus. This may address absences, new realizations, passions, college and career goals, frustrations, excitements, etc.
- Absences and needed to make up lots of work - I missed a lot of school for my hockey team this year. This created a lot of challenges for me in school, particularly Pre calc, and I realized next year I will not want to miss so much, I would prefer to focus on being at school so I don’t have to do all the make-up work.
- College goals: I have decided that I will go to Massachusetts Maritime Academy and major in Marine Transportation, which requires a lot of math. I really tried to get as much as I could from this class as I will soon be taking pre calc in college and then calc.
- Frustrations: I realized this year that I really need to focus on the basics of math that I missed with being pulled out of my math classes for my dyslexia as a kid. I get the higher level concepts in math without struggle, but I still struggle with simple computation. I need to work on this for getting my SAT goals, then maybe a Coast Guard scholarship for the Maritime Academy.
- I am excited to keep going in math, which I find fun for the most part.
